Artist Biography
Allen Sapp (1928–2015) was a distinguished Cree painter from the Red Pheasant Reserve in Saskatchewan. Known for his straightforward and sincere depictions of reserve and rural prairie life, his work has been widely exhibited and collected across Canada. Sapp received the Order of Canada and the Governor General’s Award for his contribution to Canadian art and for preserving the memories and traditions of his community.
