Biography:
Born in New York as Anders Gittelson, André Gisson (1921–2003) adopted a French name to better align with the Impressionist tradition that deeply inspired him. Trained at the Pratt Institute, he served in World War II before dedicating his life to painting. His works reflect the influence of French masters such as Monet and Pissarro, characterized by atmospheric light, soft color harmonies, and elegant compositions. Gisson exhibited widely in the United States and Europe, and his paintings are found in numerous private and public collections.
