Pair of Antique English Staffordshire Pottery Sheep Spill Vases
A charming pair of antique English Staffordshire pottery spill vases, each modelled with a standing sheep before a tree-form spill holder decorated in soft shades of pink and green. The sheep are rendered with finely textured “wool” decoration, characteristic of traditional Staffordshire animal figures produced during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
These whimsical and highly decorative pieces were originally designed as spill vases, used to hold rolled paper tapers for lighting candles or fireplaces, though today they are admired as delightful examples of English country pottery and decorative folk art.
The underside bears the Staffordshire England mark.
Dimensions: approximately 8" high x 5" wide x 3.5" deep
Condition: Good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with display and use. Minor glaze imperfections and light wear present as expected with Staffordshire pottery. No major damages noted.
A wonderful decorative pair for collectors of Staffordshire figures, English pottery, or traditional country house décor.
