Pair of French Neoclassical Bronze Doré et Patiné Candelabra, Signed Salmson (Jean-Jules Salmson, 1823–1902)
An impressive pair of 19th-century French Neoclassical gilt and patinated bronze candelabra by Jean-Jules Salmson, each featuring six candle nozzles surrounding a central turned finial. The sculptural figures at the base are allegorical representations of the arts — one holding a hammer and chisel symbolizing Sculpture, and the other with a palette and brushes symbolizing Painting. Both figures are beautifully modeled and finely detailed, raised on black stone socles with delicate beaded trim.
Dimensions: Approximately 29.25 inches high x 13 inches wide.
